Carla Keesecker - Original Fine Art

Biography

Education and Training

Picture of Carla KeeseckerAs a child, my most prized possessions were my paint brushes. I have been blessed with a great art education. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Denver and a Masters Degree in Art Education from Lesley University in Boston Massachusetts. As an undergraduate, I traveled throughout Europe and studied art history at The Institute of European Studies in Vienna, Austria. I have participated in superb workshops with Robert Bateman, Mort Solberg, Steven Quiller, Terry Isaac, Matthew Hillier, Dan Smith, Paco Young, and John Banovich.

I taught art in Colorado Public Schools for 22 years and loved it. A diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis led to my early retirement in 2005. I now have much more time to pursue my painting and art as healing.

Artist Statement

All the wildlife in my art is based on reference photos that I have taken throughout the Western United States and Canada. My artwork begins with drawings, sketches and photos on location. I complete it in my studio.

I love the beauty and variety in nature. I enjoy the movement of patterns in water, the play of light across surfaces, shapes and textures. It's fun to express the mood, atmosphere, and feeling of a place with color. My passion is to share the beauty of our world with others.
