Carla Keesecker - Original Fine Art

Biography

Education and Training

Picture of Carla KeeseckerAs a child, my most prized possessions were my paint brushes. I have been blessed with great art education. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Denver and a Masters Degree in Art Education from Lesley University in Boston Massachusetts. While working on my bachelor's degree I traveled and studied art history in Europe. I have participated in superb workshops with Robert Bateman, Mort Solberg, Steven Quiller, Terry Isaac, Matthew Hillier, Dan Smith, Paco Young, and John Banovich.

I taught art in Colorado Public Schools for 22 years and loved it. A diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis has lead to my early retirement in 2005. I now have much more time to pursue my painting and art as healing.

Artist Statement

All the wildlife in my art is based on reference photos that I have taken throughout the Western United States and Canada. My artwork begins with drawings, sketches and photos on location. I then complete it in my studio.

I love the beauty and variety in nature, the movement of patterns in water, the play of light across surfaces, shapes and textures. It's fun to express the mood, atmosphere, and feeling of a place with color. My passion is to share the beauty of our world with others.
